    User Parameter passing via IPC

    Hi there,
I monitor a lot of values via UserParameters. Actually I pass them through files. Wouldn#t it be nice to pass them through IPC, so that the actual value together with a timestamp could be read out.

The timestamp, in conjunction with an intervall parameter, could be a kind of watchdog looking after the delivering process (which would be passed by another parameter). In case that the timestamp corresponding to the monitored value is older than the actual time - intervall zabbix_agent could try to restart the process or deliver a notification to zabbix_server.

IPC? On Unix-like OS there are a lot of facilities for InterProcessCommunication:

    - Fifos (Named Pipes)
    - sockets
    - Shared Memory
    - semaphores

I allready use Shared Memory in a some php and perl scripts.
Would IPC (Shared Memory) a safe and usefull procedure to interface with zabbix_agent ?

    Regards
Working...
