i think zabbix should have an interface for other programs to report events. I mean events and not data.
In Tivoli you can assign a program a range of event ids so if a prg reports an error it uses a ID in its range and then Tivoli or the operator knows what to do because there is some action defined depending on the ID.
Are there plans to implement this in the near future ?
