I'm running Zabbix 1.6.4 on a CentOS server with 2 Xeon processors and 4 gigs of RAM. Here's my question. I noticed a while back after I associated a bunch of switches with an existing Cisco template that my load average went up and my MySQL CPU utilization went WAY up. I disabled most of the items in the templates because I really don't need to monitor each switch port all the time but the utilization was still high. Yesterday and today I went through and removed the association with the template for most of my switches and just set up a single ping test to tell if the switch is up or down and didn't use the template at all. The MySQL CPU utilization is back down to normal, it went from 100+ down to 15-30 when I'm watching it with Top. Do the templates cause a load even if most of the items on the template are disabled?
