    Zabbix reporting wrong service state

    I'm running zabbix-1.8 on rhel5. I upgraded from version 1.6.4 about three weeks ago. Most everything is running fine except that now zabbix seems quite confused about the status returned by agents. It seems this is mostly happening on agents running on linux hosts.

    Now if you look at "latest data", most services show as down(0) even though they are actually up and running. If you display the graph, the graph will show the correct value (1), but, on the host's display for all services, the services will show as down. What's even more confusing is that if, while displaying the graph, you select 'Values' from the pull-down menu, all values shown flip to the last returned value of the check. For example, if a check returns a value of 1, all the values displayed will be set to 1 on the 'values' screen; not on the graph. If the check gets a value of 0, then all the values on the 'values' screen will flip to 0, while the graph shows the correct variation. Values in the database are correctly stored. They do not flip at all. They stay consistent.

    This has caused the notifications process to break. I haven't been able to get any notifications going out apparently due to this problem.

    Again, this seems to be affecting only linux hosts, windows hosts seem to be behaving correctly. I do have notifications going out when the host is a windows host.

    Please, help

    Regards;

    Al.
