I have seen this on 1.6.6/1.6.7/1.8.1...when I bulk import hosts from xml files something happens to the database entries.
Error message as seen from 1.8.1 Configuration --> Hosts.
These hosts are still running 1.4.6 agents.

*Timeout while connecting to [<ip>:161] <<Host Template is a icmpping>>
(one host is green ok as shown by the green snmp icon)
* Get value from agent failed: ZBX_TCP_READ() failed [Connection reset by peer]
