Maps cannot add icons

Hello all.
I am on FreeBSD 8.1 with apache22 and php5.3.6

When i try to add an icon in the map page, things do not work.

in /var/log/messages i see the following

Jul 12 15:06:19 srv01 kernel: pid 21640 (httpd), uid 80: exited on signal 6

in my /var/log/http-error.log i see the following.

[Tue Jul 12 15:06:19 2011] [notice] child pid 21667 exit signal Abort trap (6)

this happens when i go to configuration -> maps
Then select the map and click on the add element button (+) behind the word icon.

what can it be.
