    Enabled log item not showing in DebugLevel=4 ZB logs

    Hey guys,

    === Minimal way to describe the problem ===

    I'm trying to debug a log item here and having a hard time even when DebugLevel=4.

    I'm starting to suspect that even though Latest Data for the interesting host shows the item there without values being collected, the Agent in the host is not even trying to parse the log.

    I'm seeing mentions to nearly all default items :

    13024:20151106:140127.524 collector [idle 1 sec]
    13026:20151106:140127.740 listener #2 [processing request]
    13026:20151106:140127.740 Requested [net.if.out[teql0]]
    13026:20151106:140127.741 Sending back [0]
    13026:20151106:140127.741 listener #2 [waiting for connection]
    13024:20151106:140128.524 collector [processing data]
    13024:20151106:140128.524 In update_cpustats()
    13024:20151106:140128.524 End of update_cpustats()
    13024:20151106:140128.524 collector [idle 1 sec]

    But if I grep for the one I'm interested in :

    log[/var/log/jvm/gc.log,".*\[GC.+([0-9]\.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]).*"]

    with :

    ~]# grep log /var/log/zabbix/agent.log
    [root@app1 ~]#

    I get nothing.

    Am I not supposed to see the item there even when it's getting collected? I understand that this is an Agent Active item, so it should run in the host's agent.

    Am I missing something? It makes sense that this is evidence that the item is not being collected?

    In that case, if the item is already enabled in the host, what can I try to make it start being collected?

    Thanks!

    ==== What I was trying to do (in case it's useful) =====

    Basically I tried the 2 different item formats as here :

    Namely :

    log[/var/log/jvm/gc.log,processing]

    Expecting to get anything out of it, and actually

    log[/var/log/jvm/gc.log,".*\[GC.+([0-9]\.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]).*"]

    Which is what I want, to get that number out of this string :

    272314.816: [GC 1117085K->474549K(2021504K), 0.0062180 secs]
