Hi Team,
Yesterday, I have downloaded the Ubuntu based Zabbix 3.2 appliance and deployed it on an ESX host.
I have extended the volume zabbix-vg to 100 GiB in the assumption that this is the volume where Zabbix stores all the things it needs for its doing its magic; including the data from the devices being monitored.
The next thing I did was adding a fixed IP (i.e. 192.168.0.160) and changing the host name to zabbix.local.net. I then started with installing a couple of agents; including on the Zabbix server itself.
Once completed, I have checked the different logs for errors; including the Apache log on the Zabbix server. I also increased the PHP memory from 128 to 512 as suggested in one of the forums here. Everything seems to be running error free after fixing an error where the connection with the Zabbix server was refused because it was not the localhost.
After that I started with the configuration by going to http://zabbix.local.net/zabbix. Within Zabbix I have created a discovery rule for the subnet 192.168.0.129/25. I then created an “Action” where every discovered host is added to the host group “Discovered hosts”. After some time, Zabbix reports 13 hosts in the host group mentioned previously.
When looking at the discovery status page, all hosts are in there with their appropriate type of check/agent (i.e. http, https, ICMP, SSH, SNMP and Zabbix). In addition, the column “Monitored host” is showing the FQDN on each of the hosts.
However, despite all these good things, no device data is coming in. Meaning when going to, for example, the “Graphs” section, there is no host; even the group “Discovered hosts” doesn’t show up here. The “Group” and “Host” in this section only show “All”.
Anyone out there wo recognizes this? Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Best regards,
- Will Moonen
