Hiccups in ifHCInOctets causes unrealistic rates

    Hello,

I have encountered something weird and have a clue of how to fix it.

    Zabbix ver: 6.4.19

    My issue is this:

    | ts_local | dt_s | bps | gbps | pct_increase |
    |--------------------|------|--------------|-------|--------------|
    | 2025-08-14 21:14:21 | 177 | 20,330,819,488 | 20.331 | 4.2 |
    | 2025-08-14 21:17:21 | 180 | 20,669,423,648 | 20.669 | 1.7 |
    | 2025-08-14 21:22:58 | 337 | 18,167,690,448 | 18.168 | -12.1 |
    | 2025-08-14 21:23:21 | 23 | 54,050,463,816 | 54.050 | 197.5 |
    | 2025-08-14 21:26:21 | 180 | 20,641,129,168 | 20.641 | -61.8 |
    | 2025-08-14 21:29:21 | 180 | 20,653,251,632 | 20.653 | 0.1 |

When checking for ifHCInOctets using 1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.6 sometimes a hiccup happens. As you can see in delta seconds 337 one of the checks was very delayed and when the next check was about to happen (after 360 seconds, keeping a 180 second interval) the calculation for traffic by delta is severely off.

I am thinking of dropping these big values with preprocessing, but I just wanted to check if anyone has encountered a similar issue?
