    Mein Kampf part II

Well the story has a happy ending!

I got Zabbix 1.1alpha7 to work after the 3rd attempt. Three times the charm.
I think I tried to cut a few corners during the install. Thats always non-no.

So i installed it onto a 15GB drive, but I said to myself, I should be able to get this onto a 4GB or less drive, and make a bootable GHOST image of this zabbix server.

However, resizing a Linux server is a bit tricky. The partition table WAS NOT damaged, but PM8 thought it was. Tried FIPS2 and some others. Nothing was going to resize this. Tried most of the partition resizing tools on Ultimate Boot CD 3.2 Full. Nada.

So I figured, lets reinstall everything from scratch yet again!
Zabbix with just the bare essentials. No extras.
And thats what I did. It is now less than 2Gb in size. Yeah I know, lots of extras in there..but 2GB is a lot better than 15GB. And as long as it fits onto a
    bootable DVD..I dont care. (<4.77GB)

I will post my script so that others can use it. I will have to do some simple but important, editing first.

    Thanks to the 2 replies!

qmail was far more difficult that zabbix.

I dont like using RPMs at all. I prefer to use soure tars for all network services/servers. As for the base install, I dont care. As long as it has all the basic tools
Working...
