View Full Version : Request: Active agent remote command execution
Would it be possible to add remote command execution for active mode agents? The commands could stay in a queue until the agent "calls home" and downloads it. I deal with a lot of active agents behind firewalls and this would be a huge timesaver!
Thanks a lot for a great product!

Yeah I could really use this as well.

Hello,
I just tried to execute a command (as an action on a trigger problem) with version 1.8.4 and it seems it doesn't work on Active mode.
I changed the item associated with the trigger to Zabbix agent Active
And I noticed that when I disable PassivMode on Zabbix agent, the item is still normally refreshed but the remote command is not executed. It only works when I enable PassivMode.
So is this feature really implemented on the last Zabbix version?
ps: I think that this problem is the only limitation on ActiveMode on Zabbix agents.
Hi,
Just wondering if there has been any progress to this issue. It was formally lodged as a feature request here (https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBXNEXT-297) some time ago.
This would make the active agent incredibly powerful.
In the mean time, has anyone been successful with some kind of workaround? I can add a new item to run a remote command obviously this will happen periodically which is far from ideal.
Is there perhaps a way to disable template items for certain hosts by way of a trigger?
Thanks

Hello,
Do we have any progress regarding this issue.
As stated by other users, such a functionality will really make active agents powerful.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Nicola.
as far as i know, it's not on the short term roadmap (https://zabbix.org/wiki/Docs/specs/2.0_roadmap)
