Agent user zabbix permissions? Cannot obtain file information: [13] Permission denied

We have a new RHEL file server which we want to monitor some files on for being modified.

I have created an item to check but I am not getting any data back. The error is "Cannot obtain file information: [13] Permission denied"

The zabbix-agent.service is running as user "zabbix". We have given "zabbix" read access to the parent folder where our files sit but access is still denied.

What permissions does the user "zabbix" need and where should it be applied?

    Thanks

Zabbix user has to have access to whole path. And to get to file it also has to have rights to enter that directory... ie r-x

you can check whole path permissions with "namei -mo /ful/path/to/file"
