I like Zabbix but it would be easier to convince my team to use it, and upper management to buy it, if the marketing was clearer.
I've been playing with zabbix for a while and I think it's great and heading in the right direction. It's likely the our current Nagios installation (monitoring about 150 server) will be replaced by Zabbix. However it has been an uphill struggle to sell Zabbix to my line manager(s). I've worked as an opertions engineer for a while so I'm used to the business of implementing change in the team. For zabbix these were my three main reason
* Configuration - Dealing with text files in Nagios is a b*tch. It takes too long so often check aren't added because we're always strapped for time.
* SNMP integration - better than Nagios
* Graphing - trending is very important for diagnosing issue (we have munin now but I don't think it's very effective for our purposes)
* Complex triggers - allows us to create better check which mean less noise in the team inbox (we currently have to process about 600 emails per day)
I would like to see on the front page (or somewhere prominent) why I should use Zabbix instead of Zenoss or whatever else. I can make the argument myself but everyone know that managers aren't necessarily that technical. Zabbix could do better is the key advantages were clearly marketed.
