    FOSDEM 2012 - Brussels

    Hi,

I just saw that Alexei Vladishev and Aleksander Vladishev will attend the FOSDEM this weekend. I was also planning going there on Sunday for a promising talk about passive monitoing (http://fosdem.org/2012/schedule/event/monitoring) .

If someone wants to grab a beer, let me know.

    Cheers

    Alvaro

      Fosdem 2012

      Hi Alexei,

I couldn´t finally attend. Pipe explosion due to the cold during the night...
I´ve seen the video of the passive monitoing presentation; dissapointing I think.
In any case, the predictive monitoring is a very interesting topic and I see that at some point in the past you were considering it for Zabbix. At first sight, it seems that we already have all the "infrastructure" to implement it. Ís it Zabbix team working on it? If not, it is just a technical problem or a lack-of-time issue?

      Cheers!

I tend to agree. First, Zabbix wasn't mentioned at all Also I believe that Zabbix already has great potential for detection of anomalies and prediction of potential problems. Some of the mentioned scenarios can already be implemented in Zabbix thanks to time-shift functions.

The talk has valid points as well. I think that what we need is to bring more advanced math to make it more reliable for practical use.
