[MobileOp] Track your Hosts monitored by Zabbix, using QR Code Tags

With MobileOp v.1.1 iOS App for iPhone, now you can track your Zabbix monitored hosts status directly using QR Code Tags with new features HostTag and HostScan.

    *HostTag

This new feature gives the ability to Zabbix Admins and NOC Operators who work intensively in Data Center and wiring closet environments , to create, print, share and then apply QR Codes Tags on the host chassis (generated within MobileOp) for each Zabbix monitored Host they manage.

    *HostScan

With MobileOp now you can read and interact with your monitored Host by scanning previously generated QR Codes HostTags using the integrated iPhone Camera in a real-time fashion (no push-to-scan like other QR Code readers). This will help you especially when you want to retrieve Host real-time status information + actual alarms from the Systems that is right in front of you.

The created Tags can also be shared and recognized with others MobileOp users, using the same HostScan feature. Other users, only need Zabbix access profile with required credentials to reach Host status information.

Go to iTunes store for more information about MobileOp 1.1 new features:
Download MobileOp by Marco Lombardo on the App Store. See screenshots, ratings and reviews, user tips, and more games like MobileOp.

    Printing and generating host tags?

Can you give more information on creating, generating, and printing these QRtags?

Assuming that you have installed MobileOp in your iPhone, below I've described all the steps needed to create and use Host QR Code tags:

*How to Generate and Print a Host Tag*:

      1. Select a Zabbix Server from your servers list

      2. Select a specific host that you want to associate to an host tag. You can select an host directly from the hosts list or from a trigger or event view.

      3. Press the forward button placed on the top-right corner of the screen

      4. Now Select the "Show HostTag QR Code" button (this action will generate the Tag)

      5. A Host QR Code Tag will appear on the screen

      6. On the right side of the QR Code, there are two buttons Mail and Print. With Mail you can send the QR Code as attachment to an email address and then print it directly from your computer (in the size you wish). With Print button you can print the QR Code tag using iOS AirPrint feature (be careful that this only works with AirPrint capable printers)

      7. Once you have the QR Code Tag printed on paper (adhesive paper is better) you can attach it on your host chassis (I raccomend to place the tag on the front side of your host).

*How to Scan a Host Tag and retrieve host information*:

      1. Start MobileOp or exit from the Zabbix Server your where logged in

      2. Press the button "HostScan" in the top-left of the screen

      3. The iPhone camera will be active, now place the camera on the front of the previously printed Host QR Code Tag.

      4. Once the Host Tag has been recognized from the App, you will feel a buzz from the iPhone and then a briefly information of the host will appear on the iPhone screen. This information will include the status of the host that is placed in front of you and the current active alarms (if there are at least one of them). If you want more information just press the ">" button and you will access the detail host view with all the information (items, triggers, Events, Inventory, Location ecc..)

Note that all created Tags are unique and can be accessed from any MobileOp client, if you scan a Tag and the related host belongs to a Zabbix Server that is not in your profile list, a pop-up will appear asking about Zabbix Server account access credentials.

Hope this steps help you to use this useful feature.

Please let me know if you succeeded.
