I think he might come back once the project meets his expectations.
He wrote a lot of code that didn't get included in upstream. I think he eventually has so many features and code that didn't fit zabbix anymore and forked his own zabbix.
Someone should track him down and get a copy. He's probably running Zabbix 1.8
