There is a nice bb software available at http://www.simplemachines.org I think its superior to vBulletin that is used right now. It also provides convertors and is free.
Admin you may want to have a look.
It has some funky bells and wistles, but I don't see anything functionality wise it has that the current forum is lacking. I like the clean simple look this forum has because I don't have to wade through people's huge signatures just to get to the information I want. Just my thoughts.

vBulletin is not free, I agree, but it works perfectly, it's fast and has very clean look&feel. Honestly I do not see any reasons to switch to other solution.

I have seen people who use many other forum software complain when their forum s/w crashes. And most of the people there are people who formerly used a variety of other forum s/w's.

I have hosted sites run by SMF and actually you can emulate all the features (or lack of them) with it.
The latest version also allows report generations. The admin capabilities are really extensive.
Of course I really didn't think this zabbix forum needed it. I just thought you might want to have a look at an free Open source alternative (as Vbulletin is pay).
