    A new spam filter installed

    Hey all,

We just installed a new spam filter for the forum posts, it is supposed to catch all spam messages.

Let us know about if it works and report any issues.

yeah, they are persistent. but the filter is being continuously improved, and i'm wondering whether the messages without any spam links indicate that they are giving up sometimes

There is still quite a bit of spam slipping by. Almost always, it is someone who just registered. And then they will spam multiple sub-forums with their nonsensical drivel .Seems to me a logical approach to ending this, would be for anyone with less than 5 posts, those posts have to be approved by someone to make it to the forum.

Tell ya what... give me admin rights to remove posts... I will delete spam for you and only charge you USD $1 per removed message.

Without requiring an admin validation, you could simply request a captcha for the users with less than 5 messages.

i don't think captchas would slow the bastards down much, they seem to get through the existing signup procedure just fine...

I've noticed a large increase in the spam posts on topics I'm subscribed to over the last couple of months....

As others have noticed, it is almost always new users... Is it possible for new users (say <10 posts) to require approval on messages before they go live or at least require captchas?
