I tried to post an example of a zabbix_agentd.conf file today inside of tags, but was denied with this message:

Too many live links/images found in your post content. Please edit your post or contact the administrator.

The only link I saw in it was one to zabbix.com. I removed that, but the error message persisted.

or I could just put it here as a zip.

Here is just enough of the conf file to trip that error. I think it may be triggering on how many IP addresses it counts in a single message.

              haha
actually it was a bit more interesting than that. see, it triggered on "address" 5 or more times. why so ? well, actual matched string was "dress"

should be fixed now, thanks for reporting

This appears to be the solution. I haven't seen any spam on the forums since this policy was put into place.

                  hmmm...

Is this why my post seems to have simply not happened (it's been about 2 hours)? Is there a notification when the post actually becomes live? Is there any sort of expected timeframe and if so could that be added to the message page regarding moderator approval so people are aware of the expectation? I'm looking for ways to improve the experience for someone new looking to get help or info on an issue from the level of "meh we'll get to you at some point and see if you're allowed to have that post actually happen newbie"

                    yes, that's the reason;
i'm not aware of notifications - did you get some ?
timeframe, unfortunately, can vary - although it usually is from a couple of hours to one day.
of course, once you have shown that you are not an incredibly retarded spammer, this obstruction goes away for you

                      Ah

Well I have my moments, but I'd like to think I'm not INCREDIBLY retarded, and I never spam

My $0.02 given your reply, if the message page saying the post requires moderator approval before showing up said "this can take up to a day" that gives the users a little better feel of what to expect while lanquishing in newbie land

                      Cheers!

Ok, they've now resorted to spamming via private message... I've just got one from someone called Hudgepaug who is a new user...

I'll see if there are any settings we can apply to disable new users from doing PM's. Thanks for posting.
