wiki - create new session on template page

Hi,

I create a template on zabbix to IBM Informix database where is based on SNMP + shell scripts (agent userun).

I desire share it , so then create a page on the new wiki ( https://www.zabbix.org/wiki/Zabbix_Templates ) where I believe be the correct place.

I was tried created at the old wiki (zabbix.com/wiki) where contain templates for others DB Vendors, but there is no way for that. (don't enable any option to edit/create).

So , is fine create a new session on the template page (new wiki) for databases ?
Is there something what I need to care about?

Hi Cesar. I found your template in the Wiki. We will be looking to monitor Informix in the very near future. I am wondering if your template has any recent updates to it, or if that is the latest?

Hi Jeff,

As far I remember there little changes, but are changes customized to environment at my work.
I don't remember changed any what deserved be published.

Tomorrow I will check and give some feedback to you here.
If have anything I will update at the wiki.

Obs: I'm predicting a major change when I update my zabbix to version 2.2
At this version I belive able to implement the discovery of dbspaces too and then able to monitor the dbspaces utilization.
(there is a limitation which was implemented only at version 2.2 , check this thread : https://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40483 )

Our current Prod environment is 2.0.9 and I have a test instance up of 2.2.0

I will probably wait until 2.2.3 or 2.2.4 to implement though.

Hi Jeff,

I've compared my current version of the template with the last version published and there have only changes what are very specific to our environment.
So , I do not consider useful share it because will appear little confuse and probably will not fit for mostly of people...

Just explain...
My current version have more one item and two triggers , one item to identify if our logical log have the automatic backup active (check a variable into $INFORMIXDIR/etc/alarmprogram.sh) .

The triggers have the objective to alarm something happing with logical log backup and then execute our action, where it active the automatic backup (changing the alarmprogram.sh script).

This is very specific of our environment because we work with continuous backup for logical log to tape and I configure zabbix to monitor and react if our backup fail someway, activating the automatic backup at alarmprogram.sh script. (I'm DBA, this involved a little about disaster recovery configuration of the environment).

For certains Informix triggers, we have actions to send emails+sms and run scripts.

Now, just sharing (because I loved configure at zabbix , is configure actions to send SMS when any of this occur (informix alarms). But I not able to use the SMS resource directly at zabbix because it run into a VM. So we use a old netbook running windows + 3G modem + gammu opensource + cygwin/bash scripts. It's our "SMS station" and works any if occur any power outage (since they have their own battery) and is able to identify either if the netbook is running over battery (power outage), but this already is own scripts written in bash.

Not yet...
I'm running Zabbix over OpenSuse 12.3 and I use they last RPM release.
I like and reliable the OpenSuse releases (as mature point of view), so, I'm waiting for version 2.2 officially at opensuse repository...

Believe will take few months for this...
