    Attachment size limits

I tried to upload a Zabbix template in a response to a forum post. Couldn't do it because the size limit for all attachments I've ever uploaded is a total of < 100K. I had to delete previous attachments to other threads, which had been downloaded over 1000 times, in order to upload a new one. Now those threads have had their attachments removed so they are now useless.

This is just crazy. I thought we wanted to encourage people to upload templates, etc. Setting a total limit of < 100K just tells people not to bother.

Disk space is cheap, I don't understand why you would try so hard to keep people from uploading. If the reason is to keep out spammers, there's got to be a better way.

    I concur!

If you're afraid of spammers/bots, then only allow more upload space after say 10 posts or 30 days of being registered - or something in that line.

Alternatively create a section/announcement/sticky with recommended image & file hosts that should be used.

note that forums are not really intended to be a permanent storage - if you would like to share templates, we would encourage to do so on the community wiki - see https://www.zabbix.org/wiki/Zabbix_Templates

I still can't create an account on the wiki, all I get is this message:

            Account creation error
There was either an authentication database error or you are not allowed to update your external account.

I tried over a year ago and had the same problem. No wonder there is so little activity on the wiki.

And you really should allow attachments in the forum. There should be a lot of activity with people exchanging templates, etc, but it's way too hard to do.

there's a small trick - you actually have to fill in "real name" even though it's marked ad optional. it was accidental at first, but we found it to deter spammers quite a lot - so it was left like that
