Not getting subscription emails

Once in a great while I will get an email notification from this site, though rarely.

I do know about (and I have set) the option to auto-subscribe to my own postings and replies.

There's a topic in Help I posted (hang on stop), and I've gotten numerous replies, and not one has generated an email, and at the top it says clearly "Subscribed".

Yes, I know how to check my spam.

Is it just me, or does mail mostly not get sent? Received?

I participated in 4 topics yesterday. Overnight (4:36am ET US) I received a notification for one of them, for one reply in the middle of a group of replies, as though it just randomly picked 1 out of (among the 4) maybe 10-15 replies of activity.
