Instructions for zabbix proxy w/ sqlite added to wiki

I have posted a how to in the wiki walking through installing Zabbix 1.6 proxy onto a Debian install. This uses sqlite, and has proved to be much friendlier to deploy to small sites than mysql stuff. This installation has worked for me on Virtual machines that i have copied around our organization. In a VMware Server VM, the whole machine (using dynamically allocated disk space) comes out to 1.1G, and in my install, (10 hosts or less on each proxy) only needs 128MB of RAM.

    Comments and suggestions are welcome...

    on the Zabbix wiki:

    also on my blog:

This sounds great! Thanks a lot for doing this.

I am having some trouble with the instructions though and hope you might be able to steer me in the right direction. I installed the latest debian in a VMWare virtual machine, but I am having trouble with dependencies.

Specifically when I try to install libsnmp-dev, it tells me is is selecting libsnmp9-dev instead but then says it can not be installed because of unmet dependencies.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libsnmp9-dev: Depends: libsensors-dev (>= 2.8.5) but it is not installable
    E: Broken Packages
Then when I try to install libsensors-dev, I get this error:

Package libsensors-dev is not available , but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source
E: Package libsensors-dev has no installation candidate
It's kind of strange to me because your post is fairly recent so I would be surprised if Debian has changed very much in a few weeks. All other packages installed just fine.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong or have any ideas on how to correct it?

Also, I believe there is a typo in step 1: Where you have "sqlitelibsqlite3-dev", I think you want that to be "sqlite3 libsqlite3-dev"

      I fixed the typos. thanks.

libsnmp9-dev is the correct package, and on my server, it also pulled in the sensors packages: libsensors-dev and libsensors3. have you tried using dpkg-reconfigure or other package tools to take care of it?

Thanks for the reply. I got it working by changing my sources.list file.

I can't wait to try it out. I am hoping for a windows version of the proxy eventually, but if this works then Zabbix may be an option for me now.

Did you have any trouble running the VMWare player as a service on a windows computer? I was going to try and follow these instructions: http://research.stowers-institute.or...yerService.htm
