    Cisco Templates

    Hi ppl,

I've just added the following templates to the wiki, not all are completely finished (with a 6500 one has some oid's to choose from the interfaces will normally have a 5min interval with a 60% threshold trigger (independent from port speed, always works).
Drop me a line for more info or updates/improvements)

Cisco 6509 - WS-C6704-10G blade, made for module1, use search/replace to make template for other blades

Cisco 6509 - SUP720 BXL, made for module5/6, use search/replace to make template for other blades

Cisco 6509 - VS-S720-10G(supervisor), made for module5/6, use search/replace to make template for other blades

    Updated - Cisco FastEthernet0/1-24 + GigabitEthernet0/1-2

    Hi,

Forget about the Cisco 2950T24 template, I removed it from the wiki.

Instead, try the new one: Template-Cisco_dynamic-fa24_gi02.xml.
It uses dynamic snmp indexes, so it should work on any model -- 24 x FastEthernet + 2 x GigabitEthernet (others are coming up)

Triggers are set to a 60% threshold, independent from interface speed + CPU/ping triggers etc.

Also, quite a few items are disabled, something I find handy if I need e.g. more Layer3 information.

      Another update

      Hi,

I removed the following templates as well:

      Cisco 3548-XL template
      Cisco 3560-24PS template

Both can be replaced by the new dynamic templates, I just added:

      Template-Cisco_dynamic-fa48_gi02.xml - uses dynamic snmp indexes for 48 x FastEthernet + 2 x GigabitEthernet

Template-Cisco_dynamic-gi24.xml - uses dynamic snmp indexes for 24 x GigabitEthernet

      Have fun

The templates in the wiki for the PIX work fine for the ASA devices. I use the first one in the list but the one for the PIX 515E should also work.

Was confused as well, but then I saw this on the main wiki page:

                ---
                Wiki upgrade

As you might have noticed, we have moved to a new wiki version. Wiki will undergo some structural cleanup now, so things will be in flux for a while. Note that most external links will be broken with the large changes.
                ---

Drop me a note if I can provide you with them in the meantime.

Template-Cisco_dynamic-gi24.xml - Doesnt work for me on a 3750G 24 Port Copper Gig switch.

My first guess would be interface naming convention:

Compare the interface names in the XML with the ones on the switch, you prob will have to add an extra /1

Let us know if that works

btw, are the templates again available in the wiki, didn't check yet because of crazy timelines here... if not I can put them on the wiki

I'll give it a go tomorrow, you aware of anyone writing any scripts that can auto populate the zabbix data according to the information discovered over snmp?

For example the port description being used to name the items for in/out ? Also disable items for ports whos status is set to down.... things like that? Zabbix is really missing auto discovery and learning features that many of the competition have.

Is this what you're looking for? https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBXNEXT-1

Possible feature request! Monitor the ifOperStatus, if status = down (2), set a trigger/action to disable the ifIn/OutOctets items. If status = up (1), re-enable the items. Now, that could be useful! The problem is, how to create an action that can enable or disable items? Possibly, the new Zabbix Commandline Tool may be able to do this.

BTW the Templates are now here http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/templates/start

Using the templates for Cisco 3560

                          Hi,

We are currently deploying Zabbix at the school where I work, and I think these dynamic Cisco templates would be fantastic.

However, we have a lot of Cisco 3560 switches, with 52 Gigabit ports. I have looked at the templates, and I could modify them with a lot of copy pasting, but it would take me hours.

I'll do it if necessary, but I was wondering if anyone has a better suggestion? Doesn't hurt to ask!

                          Thanks!
