    DBforBIX with zabbix 1.9

    I'm using dbforbix 0.4 with zabbix 1.9.8 monitoring mysql with limited issues. Just the problem I mentioned on page 5 of this post about one of the checks not working with mysql > 5.1.2 as it doesn't have table_cache.

    But that's more a mysql issue, than any issue with zabbix 1.9

      Absolutely true you need to customize query for postgresql too because postgresql 9 is different from 8. (I mean tables that contain statistics are not the same) but this is not an issue.... depend on your version.

        I switched to dbforbix 0.4 and now everything works as expected. Not sure why the latest version (dbforbix 0.5) doesn't work on my system.

        Curious to know if anyone else has encountered this behaviour.

          sorry but did you updated the template with the new one?
          Because there are some key changed to fix an issue about collision between keys.
          Now all MySQL Item are in the form DBforBIX.MySQL.<ItemKey>
          so if you have a postgres and a mysql db on same server and together calld "TESDTDB" you don't have more collision.
          Now all the Items have a key in the form of
          DBforBIX.[MySQL|Oracle|DB2|MSSQL|PostgreSQL].<itemkey>
          and I've made a lot of changes to improve dbcp with db2 but I didn't tested it too much with db2.
          Please le me know

            Yes, I'm using the templates packaged with version 0.5

            The only file i'm using from version 0.4 is dbforbix-0.4.jar

            I'm currently only monitoring 1 database server (mysql 5.5).

              general zabbix question. How do i monitor the dbforbix process?

              * EDIT: I ended up creating an item with key proc.num[java] - which returns 1 (trigger if <1). Not sure if this is the best way.

                I have another question. Monitoring mysql replication is something i do now using the scripts submitted here:

                http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/howto/mon...ng_replication

                I like dbforbix because i don't have to install php on every database server and i will be able to update it easily.

                The problem is I cannot read specific info using sql commands like 'show slave status\G' and 'show master status\G' - this is where php becomes useful.

                Is mysql replication monitoring something that you could add to a future release? Or do you have any suggestions as to how i could accomplish this with current version of dbforbix?

                thx again,
                Lou

                  Hi,
                  Is "DefaultQueryPeriod" supported in DBforBIX? If not, can it be added?

                  Regards,

                      DefaultQueryPeriod didn't work for me. That's what prompted me to ask the question. Can you double check the functionality? BTW, I'm using 0.3.

                            Hi everyone, especially Dalle

                            I have a little bit problem with dbforbix, I dunno what I am doing wrong, I have configured mine server with orabbix and dbforbix, as I monitor my database with orabbix - I have the data - it's fine, but as I monitor the database with dbforbix, the data are not refreshing on zabbix frontend, what I receive in my dbforbix log is:

                            and so on, it presents the same as my orabbix log, so it seemes fine, where I can search for the problem?

                            I am very interested in dbforbix because in nearly days we gonna upgrade our TSM and I wanted to monitor it with dbforbix

                            My OS is RHEL 6.1

                            Thank you kindly for any help,
                            Pawel

                              Newbie Question concerning connection to the database Server

                              Hello,

                              I'm new to zabbix and want to monitor our database with zabbix and dbforbix. But apparently I'm doing something wrong. The conf.props look like this:
                              Code:
                              #comma separed list of Zabbix servers here are only 2 but you can add how many you want
                              ZabbixServerList=ZabbixServer1

                              ZabbixServer1.Address=192.168.178.119
                              ZabbixServer1.Port=10051

                              DatabaseList=IMDB

                              ###Oracle

                              #on the following example we are treating Oracle

                              The things I didn't change, I didn't post.
                              Now when I try to start dbforbix I receive the following error:

                              edit: I'm using openjdk 1.6 could that be the reason.
