    Template to Monitor AirFiber

    Hi,

I created a template to monitor AirFiber equipment (firmware 2.0) and I wish to share it on here in case anybody else has a need to monitor said equipment. I created on Zabbix 2.0.5 but I suspect it will also work with newer versions.

The template monitors 31 items, has a few triggers and a couple of graphs.

If anybody makes any changes to the template, please post them on here so others may benefit from your work as well.

    Cheers!

In order of hierarchy you can:
      • Add global {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} macro definition
      • Add {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} macro definition in imported template
      • Add {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} macro in your host macros using this template
      • Replace {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} macro by your community in your template copy

My advice: do what you want/need

This is a good starting template and I have used on a modern Zabbix (7.2). It lacks some key triggers to detect things like link down and reboots, but this can be remedied by combine this template (with a few modificaitons) and the Network Generic Device by SNMP, which has these triggers. To do this we need to remove a few conflicting items and inventory update settings from the AirFiber by SNMP template. You can then create a host and specify both of these templates and the combined monitoring features of both templates. Here is my modified version of this template with the ICMP ping items removed and the update of inventory (that conflicts with the Network Generic Device template) removed. This file is exported from Zabbix 7.2, and reflects changes in template creation so it will probably not import in some significantly older versions of Zabbix. As a consequence, I have upped the version to 3.0. I have tested this successfully on AirFiber AF24 and AF11 devices.

I have started a git repository for this template: https://github.com/dpkingston/Zabbix-AirFiber-by-SNMP
