    Multiple networks

I am just starting to set up Zabbix and I have a question on how others are setting it up.

My situtation is that I have multiple data centers in different areas, each with its own local network. For a variety of reasons, each one has a firewall and ports are opened only when needed.

I can think of two methods of setting up Zabbix, and I would like to know how others have dealt with this.

    1. Central Zabbix server that monitors all servers.
    Pros:
    • Centralized Setup and update
    • Centralized monitoring

    Cons:
    • For NAT, each server in other data centers needs its own port
    • Single point of failure

    2. Multiple Zabbix Servers, one for each data center
    Pros:
    • Standardized ports. no need for each server to have its own port
    • Each Zabbix server can monitor each other

    Cons:
    • Multiple set ups. When one needs to be updated, each must be updated
    • Multiple monitoring URL's. No central overview

Which method is used most? Or is there something that I am missing that gives the best of both worlds?

    Thanx,

Thank you for the update. I look forward to the next stable version.

Unfortunately, I need to be monitoring the current systems while I wait for the next version. So I will need to install 1.1.2 and upgrade to 1.4 after it comes out.

Which method will provide me the best upgrade path? If 1.4 allows multiple servers to send data back and forth to each other, then I should install multple servers and use different URL's to monitor for the next few months.

      Thank you,
