Secure Zabbix Frontend

I get requests from clients wanting access to the web frontend. Before I open it up to the real world, I am trying to determine if I can secure the web interface from malicious attack with something like fail2ban (or another tool).

I scanned the forum but did not find anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The zabbix frontend runs using an apache or nginx web server.
The question of protecting the web interface comes down to protecting the corresponding web server.
And it has nothing to do with zabbix itself.
