    DB4bix = Zabbix Proxy(DBforBix)

    Hello everyone!
I'm pleased to offer to your attention DB4bix - tool for DB monitoring that behaves like an active Zabbix Proxy.
It means that you can control it through Zabbix Web interface:
create new or edit existing items, use Host or Templates macros inside your DB requests.
Absence of such features is the main drawback of existing external DB monitoring tools.

But internal Zabbix ODBC monitoring has rather critical own drawbacks too:
lack of multicolumn and multirow selects, lack of connection pooling and as the consequence mutual influence of databases behaviours (poor performance of one DB leads to delays or total absence of data from all databases at the same Zabbix Proxy or Zabbix Server). That's why external instruments like DBforBix and others appered. DB4bix is based on DBforBix v2.1-beta and was refined to get its configurations directly from Zabbix Server imitating active Zabbix Proxy behaviour.

DB4bix repository has been moved to DBforBix fork

We have merged our code with Smartmarmot (DBforBix author), so actual link to repository with DBforBix as Zabbix Proxy is:
DBforBix since 3.0 version is managed from Zabbix Web interface and behaves like an ordinary active Zabbix Proxy. Current version: DBforBIX 3.2.0 - vagabondan/DBforBIX

db4bix : No data display in Zabbix Web Interface

        Hello everyone.
        I have 2 questions.

        1. My Zabbix Web Interface does not display any data or information from db4bix.
How to troubleshoot this problems ?

        2. I'm trying to configure db4bix to monitor oracle database. I don't know where to put library ojdbc7.jar ?

        Thank you.

          Hi!
          1. You can troubleshoot it by switching to debug mode and looking for relevant phrases (item keys) in logs
          2. You can export library inside jar or use CLASSPATH variable

I highly recommend you to switch to actual version of DBforBIX which includes ojdbc7.jar and many improvements also:

New templates for Oracle monitoring with DBforBIX are comming soon.

            DBforBIX and Sybase

            Hi there!

I've been using DBforBix for a few weeks now on MySQL and Oracle 12c.

Thank you for the job well done!

Sybase and MSSQL are supported but I can't find any docs and I'd really like to use DBforBIX with Sybase.

Any hint on where should I start?

I'll help with pleasure with the documentation when I manage to have it to work with Sybase.

            Best regards!

              Hi!
For MSSQL or SYBASE you probably should "full clone" template from Oracle or MySQL templates and change SQLs inside them or create new SQLs.
Look for DBforBix configuration items. They should have suffixes like 'DB4bix.config' in their item keys (often they are discovery items). Their SQL fields contain XML configuration for DBforBix.

Zabbix templates cannot be imported to Zabbix systems based on Oracle backend.
Discovey rule "Instances" has params field with more than 13kbytes length.
Oracle version of Zabbix creating schema scripts define field "params" of table "items" as nvarchar2(2048) type.
In MySQL and Postgresql field "params" has text type with unlimited length.
