    Network Maps

So, I have built a network map on my Azure Server based on one of my remote sites. Very neat, graphically shows the relationship between devices and if a trigger activated the device in question is highlighted.

However, left clicking the mouse produces a menu of options including ping and traceroute. It appears that the Cloud server is performing these operations on the remote hosts which are of course behind a firewall and so of course these operations fail.

I suppose I could fix this with a rule to open the port and only let the Server IP through, but I wonder if it is possible for the server to tell the Remote Proxy to do the ping and report it to the server.

I know that this is a fairly old post, but I wanted to update this for any that might be interested in a similar configuration.

We have a central Zabbix Server running on a Debian VM on AZURE. We have about seven sites with proxies reporting to the server and it really is working great.

I'm curious as to what you're using for a database backend - are you running the database VM yourself in Azure, or using one of the delivered database services?
        thanks!

We now have several sites we are monitoring and this is working out really well. We are using the DB that is delivered with the Debian install.

Ok, thanks! So you are handling the database backups and such? I may trying using the Azure MySQL or Postgresql database-as-a-service. It looks like this person has already documented using an Azure-based MySQL:
