Zabbix monitoring of Actian Vectorwise database?

We are in the process of rolling out some database monitoring in our development environment. Currently, for the most part, we are using Userparameter files with the needed syntax for each specific platform. Things like MySQL, Postgres are fairly straight forward. I'm trying to set up something similar on Actian Vectorwise on RedHat Linux. I have scoured the internet looking for anything that might have some guidance and I'm coming up blank. Initially we only need to capture things like Up/Down status, Number of Connections/Active Connections. But the issue is, to get this directly on the database, I have to go into different sub-shells from bash.

Has anyone out there ever set up database monitoring on Vectorwise with Zabbix? We are on Zabbix 3.2.

Can I suggest you try asking this question also on the Actian Community forums, at community.actian.com ? I'm pretty sure there are other Zabbix users there who might be able to help.

Also, the release of Ingres 11 last week includes within it some plugins developed for Nagios that do some of the things you want, and since Ingres and Vector share a lot of tooling, I think they would provide a good basis for doing the same sort of things with Vector and Zabbix.

I have in fact checked the community forums. The last post made regarding Zabbix was back in 2011 and it didn't provide any help what so ever. I have posed another question in hopes that someone sees it.

As far as the release of Ingres, we have multiple versions ranging from 1.5 all the way up to 3.0 for Vectorwise (not sure what that equates to for Ingres), and changing to a newer version isn't an option as we have development and support work against all these versions.

Just looking at those version numbers you mention, I think you should re-consider upgrading to a newer release.

Vectorwise version 1.5 was released in March of 2011 I gather, and so is long since out of any kind of support. Even version 3.0 came out in 2013 and will probably be entering extended support soon. Vector is up to v5.0 now - and there never was a version 1.5 of Ingres, so I think we can only be talking about Vectorwise - which became Actian Vector from 3.5 onwards.

It's not directly related to Zabbix monitoring, but it gets easier to manage and look after in later versions.
