    Reporting features...

    Hi all,

I'm trying to understand how zabbix stores data. In particular, I'm not sure about performance data, for example If I collet every 5 minuts the cpu busy value, this data is written in MySQL (or Oracle...) db or only in an rrd database?

    Thanks

Someone please correct me where I'm wrong here.

The data is written to the history table every time the agent is polled according to the settings you have set. The History table only has the item ID, time, and the pertinent data. There are 8 total history tables, each for different data types. If you are looking for one particular item you must first look up the host ID for the system you want in the hosts table. Then the item ID in the items table where the hostID is the same as you determined earlier and the item key is the one you are looking for. Now you are ready to query the history table.

Over time the history data is aggregated into the trends table. I haven't played with this table much so I'm not sure how it works. Use a similar method as above to guide you in your figuring it out.

    Hope this helps.
