    Monitoring Barracuda Spam Firewall

    Hi everyone,

In case anyone here would like to monitor a Barracuda Spam Firewall, here is the information required to do so. I have attached the XML template, and requisite zabbix agentd config information. I do not know how to get a template into the third party template database on the wiki, so I will post here.

The way it works, (there is information contained in the conf file include as well) is there is a stats.cgi that you can access and for performance reasons the method I use is to grab the xml data from the Barracuda once a minute with crontab.

Let me know what you think..

This works awesome! Thanks for this. I thought I was out of luck monitoring my cuda because I dont have one that supports SNMP. I will upload the template to the wiki for you.

      Im glad you like it..

      Your welcome.

I know what you mean, I have the 300 model. I was trawling the 'cuda forums looking for a way to do this and found the stats.cgi. Pretty darned cool indeed.

      Anyhow-

Real thanks should go to the hard work put forth by the Zabbix devel team for coming up with a solution that lends itself so easily to things such as this.

And thanks for putting it in the Template Gallery. Greatly Appreciated!

      Cheers!

How to get this to work

I am brand new to Zabbix and am having trouble getting this template to work. I have other templates working but I think the problem is in how to collect this data. What I've done is to set up the cron job, that works and generates the desired output.

Then I've tried a custom agent.conf file, and adding it to the agentd.conf file for the zabbix server, and I can't get the Barracuda host to show up in the interface.

How do we implement a template like this one where we can't put the agent on the target box but are forced to read stats from an output file?

        Thanks,

We are using the barracuda devices also but what are the steps needed to get this thing online?

I am new to zabbix and learning alot so far

          Thanks

            New Barracuda firmware breaks stats.cgi

The scripts are great and we've had them working for years. Unfortunately, the new Barracuda firmware now displays "You do not have permission to run this script."

We haven't found a workaround to this yet.

We're using the Barracuda Spam Firewall Model 300 firmware version 4.0.1.010.

              Don't know...

Sorry to hear you are having problems, unfortunately I am working at a new company now that does not employ Barracuda technology- hence my current Zabbix installation does not use my old implementation.. And its been quite a while since I've seen the configuration interface of the 'cuda..

You're best bet is to call up the tech support to Barracuda networks and see if they have a solution...

              Good luck!

i open a call by barracuda...

the solution update to firmware 4.0.3.004.

and then a member of the support team activate this feature for me.

                Mail of Barracuda Support Team
Can you please open the support tunnel to your Barracuda server (Advanced/Troubleshooting) so that I can enable the API settings on your Model 300

Please let me know when the tunnel is open

                Regards

                  I'm also confused

I'm not much of a Linux person, so I need to find explicit instructions to make a lot of this work.

I don't understand how you implement the zabbix_agentd.conf.inc.txt file for the Barracuda.

The xml imports I can get to work. Any help would be appreciated.
