    Windows Performance counter templates

    Hello, everyone!

I have started using Zabbix recently, and so far my opinion regarding it is that it simply is the BEST open-source software for all-round servers and network resource monitoring. My heads-up to all the Zabbix team for the great work.

I have noticed, in several user-contributed templates for Windows performance counter monitoring, that in each item there is always a line with some SNMP parameters, that don´t have anything to do with the performance counter.

Is this normal? Don´t the templates load without that line inserted in each item?

Another thing I would like to ask, now regarding SNMP templates alone, is: would it not be much easier to simply import the new MIB files into the Linux database itself (p.ex. /usr/share/snmp/mibs) and let Zabbix do all the remaining work?

I estimate that SNMP support will be, with time, one of the resources Zabbix provides I am most likely to use the most. I provide several clients with different types of network hardware (Draytek, Cisco, Zyxel) and SNMP is a must have for me.

I have also seen some user-contributed scripts that import directly content into the MySQL database... That´s a considerable amount of work just to match some numeric OID´s to simple text..

Thanks in advance for any help, and the best wishes for the Zabbix team again!
