    GSM Modems in the US

I see a lot of our European colleagues are using GSM modems for SMS messaging. However finding a suitable modem here in the US is proving to be tricky, most hardware I come across uses the 900MHz and 1800MHz frequencies which does not work in the US, and those that do are bare boards for industrial applications. What hardware have people used here in the US to send SMS messages?

I've nearly given up on my Verizon hardware and am in the process of finding a phone an serial cable for AT&T but that will take time.

A little more searching yielded this list of "approved" devices for AT&T

Access the tools you need to build, test, onboard and certify applications across a range of devices, OSes and platforms. -from AT&T

      *Bump*

I'm still trying to get this one working. I'm finding it challenging to locate a phone to work with Linux on a budget. There has to be someone who's made this work in the US.

      Hep me out here...
