    1.5.x in production?

Is anyone running 1.5.x in production?

If so, what major issues are you having?

I did an upgrade from a 1.4.5 database to 1.5.x in a test environment and the graphs were somewhat broke, though I didn't troubleshoot.

ZABBIX 1.6 will be released on 18 September 2008. I do not think that this is a good idea to start using 1.5.x in production, even though latest beta releases are considered to be stable enough.

I would wait for the official 1.6.

The fact that you haven't received any messages from other people using 1.5.x in production, is probably a sign of people following the recommendations in the release notes:
Do not use this release in production! It is for early beta testing only.

I will not say that I have it running in production, but I certainly have it running in first round testing.
For us, we have 4 degrees of priority. Production, Preproduction (treated as production with the express intent of finding problems before it moves to production), Testing, and everything else including devlopement.

1.5 has been good enough that I wanted to start getting people familiar with it. If the whole thing goes berzerk, no one will care much because its just the testing systems. I will probably will not end up rolling out to production 1.6 for at least a month after the release, though it will be running on probably everything else.

I suspect that many people who are using the 1.5 beta are in a similar situation.

I just started to run 1.5.3 in a small production environment.

Last night though all hell broke loose. I got a page saying the zabbix database was down and then my phone went nuts (email sms)! No idea what the exact cause was but MySQL page faulted several times with an IO error which cascaded from there. Restarting MySQL didn't help and I finally had to restart the server. As best I can tell it was likely something to do with VMware (the server is running within VMware).

              Overall 1.5 is OK.

I like some of the UI tweaks in terms of graph setup and selection. The pie chart function needs some tweaks. The legend placement is not very good. It should not cause the pie chart to shrink, there's plenty of whitespace to the right when you have a width of 500 (default), use that first. In fact I would suggest combining the value legend with the graph legend, that would be "shiny" (sorry had to make the Firefly reference).

Multiple similar triggers still seems to be broke. See my other post regarding this.

The dashboard is OK, I'd like to be able to configure it a little more though.

The new graph interface is nice, but a little funky to use. I really enjoy the popup allowing me to dial in the time/period I want.

Otherwise that's all I have for now.
