    Host Group in triggers view.

    Aly,

What u think about put one column with the group of host in 'tr_status.php' ? If we have a lot of hosts named 'router' or 'ip-phone' in each group we can know quickly what host have problem.

    Hi

    I agree with that proposal.

In fact, I did exactly implement that upon request of our monitoring people.
We use the hostgroup names to group the servers (applications) by
their relevance to our customer (based on an SLA agreement).

However, my patch does not including sorting by hostgroup name.
So it's somehow a quick and dirty hack, but it works.
This would be another request I have to fulfill in the near future.

In addition to your suggestion, the feature of a sort-of explorer
view (three-level tree of hostgroups, hosts with their active triggers) would be
fine. You should be able to collaps and expand the hostgroup and the host/triggers
    display.

There is something like you request in version 1.5.x -> dashboard.
It contains an overview of the number of alerts and their
    severity per hostgroup.
Unfortunately all hostgroups are listed and not just those
    with pending alerts (triggers).

I guess, at least, one problem with this will be the theoretical
possibility that one host belongs to more than one hostgroup.
I faced that problem during the implementation of the patch.
We restrict this relation in our environment to one host just
    belongs to one hostgroup
    by convention. We don't check
that requirement in the PHP code.

Another patch I did was the ability to switch between
display non-acknowledged true triggers only and
    display all true triggers

In this way we can distinguish triggers already "worked on"
    from newly arrived ones.

    Regards

    Norbert.

      Hi NOB,

The groups can stay togheter in a column ... hmmm .... we can have a hard work to get the groups to each host.

      Aly,

Waht u think ? Is hard to frontend get data ? Its possible ?

It's not a hard task.. I just need to discuss this implementation with my colleagues.

There is a little problem in displaying host-groups, what if host belongs to several host-groups!?

          Hi Aly,

The groups can be in a 'hint', or together in a colunm.

But I dont know if this will create some kind of performance issue to check persmissions ...

We have a lot of groups (+300) and one host belongs to N groups. In dashboard (and screens) its gets a long time to execute because permissons check to each host.

We are playing with 'Database Cache Module' but it isn't appears to be done yeat. So ... doubt, doubt, doubt

just a quick idea - if this gets implemented as an expandable list, host belonging to multiple groups probably should appear in all relevant groups. of course, this shouldn't mess up total trigger counting or other things
