it seems that when i try to create a new host off an existing template, the items are copied over fine, but the triggers are not. is this a known issue or just something im doing wrong?

this problem still exists in beta6.
incidentally, i think we need a button somewhere to synchronize all hosts with their respective templates. i noticed that i have a bunch of hosts that are missing items/triggers for some reason, and i have a feeling that it has to do with this bug. -
actually, template linkages dont seem to be working anymore period. as a test, i deleted all the items/triggers for one of my hosts. then i selected that host and used the 'Use templates of this host' option. no items/triggers from the template were added.Comment

ok, here's a post that details why this wasnt working for me:
i was not aware of the required 'intermediate' templates. however, a problem that still remains is that you cant add items/triggers from a template after the host is created. the only chance you get is when you first create the host. as far as i can tell, this makes it impossible to link a host to multiple templates.Last edited by mconigliaro; 07-02-2006, 21:29.Comment

adding triggers/ items after creation
I just upgraded to beta6 today and I'm able to add items and triggers to my template and the new "thing" will copy down to the linked hosts. I'm getting an odd problem with the linked triggers that changing the serverity on the template will messing up the triggers on the linked host, but I'm still investigating that.Comment

beta6 new template triggers
When I create a trigger on a template, the webpage states that it copies the new trigger to the linked hosts, which it does. The problem is that the new trigger will take the place of an existing trigger on the linked host. The template is fine, but not the linked hosts. Once it starts doing this, the only way for me to truly fix the linked host is delete it and recreate. Anyone else see this behavior? thanksComment
