Feature Request : A couple of items.

Multiplier float (for division). I know this is already in CVS, but when will this be available in a beta?

Which brings me to my second point, the documentation is starting to really slip behind the actual functionality. I was wondering if A) you needed help with that (in which case I would like to offer to help) or B) at the very least might consider making the release announcements more verbose.

I for one have a great deal of confusion about the macros, templates, and the actual supported tests. It requires more trial and error as the support chart for items is lagging behind development.

By example what is the new parameter comm for in the updated proc.num for?

One thing that several of us suggested in the past was making the documentation available in a wiki so that the entire community can participate in keeping it up to date.

Alexei, what are your thoughts on this? Programmers don't usually like to maintain documentation so this should be a win-win for all, no?

Community: does anybody have space to spare on a server to host the Zabbix wiki? I vote for DokuWiki as platform but MediaWiki's fine too.

    Cheers,

I don't have a preference, but I would love to see a Zabbix wiki. The official stable documentation could be on the zabbix.com site, and the wiki documentation could keep evolving with each non-stable release and also do a better job of documenting what it's like to actually use the product, common pitfalls, and ways to fix them.

I have to agree, a nice place to centralize some of the fine stuff that is posted here would be great.

Internally I went exactly this route, slapping phpwiki up on my zabbix server and allowing the admins to edit it (I also linked the host "notes" links to it so we could build up evolving host profiles with revision control). Unfortunately as it's on an internal server I can't open it to the world, I would be happy to cross polinate information though!

I can host this if y'all would like... i have plenty of space/bandwidth... I've even hosted other DokuWiki's at work before so i have a pretty good idea how to install them and such... if you want me to set this up sometime in the next couple days i'd be more than happy to.

I guess this is more a discussion for the Zabbix team now... not sure if they are looking for this kind of help from the community, but i thought i'd make myself available to do so...

Then these forums could be converted over to strictly bug reporting/troubleshooting... and all the documentation and cookbook type stuff could go over on the wiki...

I think it's a great idea... and i'd love to help...

            Let me know via PM

I have a bucket of bandwidth and the hardware to spare to host a zabbix wiki. Should a resource be needed, I will happily volunteer.

We have installed DokuWiki at www.zabbix.com/doku. Currently it contains ZABBIX Manual only (not fully reformatted). Anonymous postings and registration is restricted.

Please let me know if any of you is interested in improving documentation.\, so I could create accounts with write access.

                  Thanks.

I'd like to help out with the documentation as I come across things.

One thing to ask though...is this Wiki meant to just improve the current documentation, or can we can we create new pages such as Cookbook items or specific distro related installation steps?

                    thanks,

                    cameron

I think that the Wiki can become valuable source of information. It may be used for the Manual and HOWTO-style articles. The Wiki content is very easy to modify and it keeps track of changes. I'd like to keep structure of Wiki documents (at least structure of the Manual) under control.

Sounds good. I was hoping you wanted to include How-To type articles, instead of just the Manual. Let me know if I can join the club.

I would be interested in being able to add to the wiki. Perhaps we can comb the forums and begin writing a FAQ, or a series of HowTos for commonly asked questions.
