    Datbase Patches 2.0.0rc3 to 2.0.0rc6

    Hi All,

I hope this is the right section for posting about 2.0 RC6...

I upgraded from RC3 to RC6 and ran the rc4_rc5 db patches, as I remember reading somewhere that RC3 and RC4 didn't have any database changes...

Anyhow, after running the rc4_rc5 script, it SNAFU'd my database...and against all rules, yes, I am running beta software in a production environment... Fortunately, I had a good database backup and restored.

I went back and ran the images.sql and data.sql and I am still running the RC6 code...

I just thought I would throw this out there since this is the beta forum... If any of the developers need to see what happened, I don't mind breaking it again to try and see what is going on.

93 hosts /10705 items / 2270 triggers. RC6 works great so far (even less of a problem with the queue now too!)

    Found the Culprit

    Hi All,

Curiosity almost always gets the best of me, lol... Anyhow, I figured out that it is the data.sql file in the databases/mysql folder that breaks it for me.

What is happening, is apparently some of the ID numbers are being used in my system, that running the data.sql file messes things up.

Restoring from backup again to see what else I can break, lol.

the incremental patch should be good. of course, if you run data.sql again... well, you shouldn't do that

        Now He Tells me!

Yea, I kinda figured that one out the hard way. However, I still had issues running the rc4_rc5 patch. It froze on me and just never completed, lol. I let it run for about 5 hours before I killed it. (It takes my server about that long to restore from my backup).

So I do run the images.sql file from the databases folder, but otherwise, I haven't run any of the other patch files or anything, and from what I can see, there are no adverse effects on things.

My Queue level seems to have dropped dramatically as well. I would have 1 or two every now and again that would be +10m, but now, I haven't seen that after leaving the system alone overnight.

the rc4 to rc5 patch is extremely simple. could it be that you had zabbix server running while applying the patch ?

            Most likely...

That could be the case, but I thought I had it all shut down since I was purposefully trying to break it, lol.

No worries now, though. It seems to be playing nicely. I'm planning on deploying the 2.0 agents in just a few minutes since some genius in another thread told me to look for the windows agents in the bin folders, lol.

All is well in my Zabbix land now... at least until the next RC comes out, lol.
