Having problem with sending out alerts

Hi all,

I am experiencing some problem regarding the sending out of alerts.
I am using version 1.1beta7

I am getting the error message shown below which states that my alert messages were not sent out.

No welcome message 220* from SMTP server []

I am sending SMS out using my SMS Gateway Server
Can anyone explain what does the above error message means to me?
