    Server dies on Solaris 10

    On Solaris 10 sparc, 1.1beta9, built with the Sun supplied gcc, zabbix_server keeps shutting down.

    The error in the log is:

    022802:20060512:020715 Failed to connect to database: Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (146)
    022800:20060512:020715 One server process died. Shutting down...
    022800:20060512:020715 ZABBIX server is down.

    It doesn't tell me why it couldn't connect - the database is up and running and is reporting no errors.

    Besides, shouldn't it retry the connection rather than just exit?

    sure, that your mysql-Server communicates through /tmp/mysql.sock?

    I'm not sure, but on my linux machine the socket for the mysqld is

    /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

    You can configure this option in /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf

    Look for:

    #DBSocket=/tmp/mysql.sock

    This is the default. Just uncomment this line and point it to your mysql.sock, e.g:

    DBSocket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

    and you should be fine (after zabbix_server restart...)

    greetings

      Yes, I'm sure.

      It works fine for several hours, then exits.
