MySQL result error in db.inc.php for Hosts

I've just installed alpha4 and it seems to be OK as far as setting up users (I'm following the help onsite) but when I get to setting up Hosts I'm getting the following errors underneath the CONFIGURATION OF HOSTS, and before the headings (underneath which it says No hosts defined - which is incorrect as I've set one up and can see it in the database)

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/zabbix/include/db.inc.php on line 103

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/zabbix/include/db.inc.php on line 141

I've tried to set the host up again and it tell me I can't because it's already there . . . any ideas???

Is it upgrade or fresh install? In case of upgrade, you have to apply database patches.

It's a fresh install but I did have to reinstall after I downloaded from a link that was pointing to the alpha1 version instead. Has the database changed from then?? If so I may need to rebuild the database??

You have to apply patches. Instructions can be found in the ZABBIX Manual.
