Zabbix 2.2 Beta & Final release dates / window

Hi -

I'm wondering if there is any news / guidance about the release of 2.2. I've played with alpha builds for a while, but am really holding off until beta/RC/release. We paid for some development that is already rolled in, and were promised a release date of May 2013 for 2.2. Its already May and still no Beta release out.

Is there a timeframe for feature freeze / beta / etc?

I would think if you paid for development, you would have a direct line to Zabbix sales for the information you are looking for.

First of all let me apologize for the delay in release of Zabbix 2.2 on
behalf of all Zabbix team. We are planning to deliver Beta version in
the second half of June 2013. The delay was caused by the large number
of additional functionalities sponsored during the last two months and
our true desire to include them all in Zabbix 2.2 so you could enjoy
them all at once!

We are terribly sorry once again, but we hope Zabbix 2.2 became even
more worth waiting for!

Jelena - thanks for the update. I could have asked through sales but I figured it would be good for others to know likely dates so I asked here.

If you want to download the latest code, navigate to Community -> Developers, and they have nightly builds of v2.1 (v2.1 = 2.2alpha).

2.1 alpha or 2.2 beta packages

Will pre-compiled install packages exist for download when 2.2 beta is published? Or will there be no install packages until 2.2 is "generally available" released?

I gather there are no packages for 2.1 alpha; I would need to build it myself if i wished to test it, correct?

compiling yourself should be fairly easy, though - there are some instructions on obtaining svn head and compiling from it :

even better, with the new automatic database upgrade you can keep your test db and it will be properly brought up to the current schema version.

and as you won't test this on a production system, skipping proper packaging would not be a huge issue in this case

Any updates about the release date of the version 2.2 ? I am going to install a new Zabbix server and I'd like to know if waiting for this new version is an option.

Currently second alpha of Zabbix 2.2 is available fr early preview. We need to finish a few important pieces of functionality before entering in a beta phase, it'll take (no promises) around 3 weeks.

We are getting closer and doing all our best. Currently we cannot release a beta because we have a few unfinished new features that needs to be tested and integrated into trunk.

Can you confirm if the issue seen on 2.0 with SNMPV3 checks (https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZB...s:all-tabpanel) is fixed in the 2.2 Trunk? I think from that ticket and others I can see that it is, but not 100% sure.

Sure, we integrate all fixes made in 2.0.x into trunk (pre-2.2.0) as well, https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-5028 is no exception.
