Zabbix 2.5 php error

Just installed Zabbix 2.5 Alpha and upon loading the GUI it comes up with a blank page. In the httpd error log i notice the following:

PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected '[' in /var/www/html/index.php on line 29

Any idea?

To answer my own question: PHP 5.4 is required
