Converting from octets to bytes

I need to use a multiplier that will convert the octets I get via SNMP from my switches and routers (Cisco) into bytes for the graphs. Is there an easy way of converting or will the program do it for me?

dont get me wrong, but octets are bytes (they are 8 bits) :-)
if you want to have bits, just use the multiplier
