    1.3.4 experience

OK. I installed 1.3.4. First, I'm not sure if the 1.1.6 agents are suppose to be compatible, but I wasn't getting data into zabbix 1.3.4. I'll admit, I haven't even enabled debugging yet. So far, I have just "check it out". Some comments so far.

    Questions/Comments:
    1. Hostname/triggers - I was hoping this was going to get seperated more so hostnames were not in triggers now that macros are much more flexible. I see Monitoring->Events doesn't have a hostname column.
    2. Repeats and escalations? What is this feature freeze? Are we getting escalations in 1.4? I don't see it.
    3. Dependencies. They look the same, but I'm hoping they don't work the same. They didn't seem very intuitive last time.
    4. Maps. Blah, never used them.
    5. Reports - How about some fancy reports?
    6. Screen - sorta used this. Do the graphs now resize to use as much as your browser window as possible like normal graphs? I would like that.
    7. IT Services. Dunno, never used it.
    8. Permissions - looks improved. hopefully the new permissions automatically give you access to screen, graphs etc that are associated to the hosts you have permission to . I'll then dump my perl script that manually sets permissions.

    The Cool Stuff:
    1. Templates! Hurray! It appears the implementation of templates is 10x better than the last attempt. I like it so far!
    2. Flexible interval looks neet, though I'm not sure what it does yet
    3. Installer is cool, though I would prefer Alexei spent his time on other "cooler" stuff

For me, I'm most looking for is escalations and being able to easily assign different hosts different service levels. These service levels would have different notification hours and levels of notification. Hopefully that makes sense.

Second to that would be reports.

I was able to make everything else in 1.1.x more or less "fit". I never took on the James pack (although VERY tempted) because I didn't want to move away from the core and have maintenance issues when upgrading. I'm hoping a lot of the James Pack will get into 1.4.

    More to come...
