1.3.4 : wrong status for pop and imap

Installed Zabbix 1.3.4 on CentOS 4.4 with PHP5
SNMP Monitoring is working OK
Simple Checks fail partially:

Failing : pop - imap - pop_perf - tcp,110
Working : http - tcp,80 - ftp - smtp

Is this zabbix- or OS-related ?

Found some more info:

- Checking on hostname doesn't work, on IP it works fine
- FTP check (among others) gives false negatives with proftpd on some servers
