Trouble starting zabbix_server, and admin panel not updating, 1.3 source on ubuntu
Hi. I built the 1.3 beta source on an ubuntu edgy machine. There where no errors installing aside from the normal jamble of installing dependencies. I'm trying to set up zabbix to monitor this machine because I am interested in 'mucking around' in the source code (hence why the ubuntu repository package is no good for me).
The admin panel is installed fine on localhost.
I can not seem to start zabbix server as user zabbix. I must be my normal user account for it to start up. If I try running zabbix_server as user zabbix it acts like nothing happened. The server starts and ends successfully instantaneously.
I also can not get zabbix_agentd to run unless I sudo as my normal user account, I have a feeling this should not be either.
Once I have zabbix_server and zabbix_agentd(about 6 or so of them start), the admin panel says zabbix_server is on, the machine is being monitored. But the "latest data" never updates. It also says the availability of this machine is unknown.
I'm sure there must be a misconfiguration of sorts on my end. If anyone has any idea as to what might be causing this behavior I would be most grateful.
