graph zooming improvements

some improvement suggestions, based on trunk revision 5015.
i can register these at the tracker to for easier following, or can leave them here for now - which one is preferred ?

1. instead of "Critical error. Incorrect value for [period] = '39'", select smallest possible period and print an informative message

2. in zooming popup, allow user to increase period even if located at the end of the timeline - increase or decrease other fields accordingly. this also should happen with all other fields that should push other values to form a correct range

3. in zooming popup, allow user to enter values in all fields manually

4. in scrollbar, if it is not an end of the timeline, add empty space to allow more comfortable moving back in time.

5. treat area to the left and right of the graph as graph border.
currently zooming to the edge of the graph requires careful, slow dragging with the mouse - dragging it faster makes selection stop somewhere inbetween and having mouse cursor behind the graph y axis border does not extend selection to the end.

additionally, it is not possible to easily start selection from graph edge, it requires even more careful cursor positioning

6. clicking on the calendar icon again should close the popup

7. scrollbar resizer should show second arrow on each side of the bar itself to better represent the function.
ideally also the arrows on the bar itself would be operable.

8. see the screenshot. on the left side of graphs, selection ends exactly at the dotted graph border.
on the right side it expands on this border and several pixels beyond (yes, i'm pedantic )

4. we show max time line, but if you pick period near time line value, we show additional time line for more comfortable representation of the scrollbar. So generally on first graph load you see full possible/usable time line.

you just saved me a bunch of time that i would have spent registernig all these (and probably some of yours as well - closing them all =) )

4. i'm actually even a bit confused about what i meant there. i remember seenig a problem in one scenario, but can't remember the exact steps to reproduce it.

6. confirming. damn, how such a small thing can improve the usability (at least for me) =)

7. seems there has been a misunderstanding.
what i meant was, the bar itself (the block that is in the middle ) shows arrows at both sides upon mouseover. but it would make it easier to understand that those arrows themselves are also operable if there was a second set of arrows on the bar itself, pointing to the middle of it.
initially i didn't even think to click on those arrows, i was told that they actually do something on irc.

8. it is now possible for the selection to cover border, but as that now can happen for both sides, it is at least consistent, so i guess i'll stop nitpicking
